Changes to membership
Here is what to do when a player takes a break, quits or moves to another club, and how long the payment obligation continues after you have given notice.
How to give notice
- Talk to the coaches and the team manager before you decide. They do everything they can to help team members reach their own goals and to keep the teams working well. It is very important to them that players share their thoughts and wishes openly.
- Give notice in writing. A break is reported to the team manager and the coach. Quitting and club transfers are reported first to the team manager and the coaches, and then also to the club.
- Notice is official only from the day it arrives by email.
Cancelling your membership must always be done in writing to the club at toimisto@pakkalanpalloseura.fi.
Please remember to contact the coaches and your team manager BEFORE you decide to cancel.
Give notice as early as possible. Early notice makes it easier both to plan the team's finances and to make arrangements for the other players and the coaches. Especially in younger age groups, unexpected quitting and long breaks in the middle of the season have a very real impact on the other players.
How long the payment obligation continues
After notice of a break, quitting or a transfer, the payment obligation to the team continues for the month in which notice is given and after it (1-2 months):
- U9 and younger: month of notice + the following month (1+1)
- U10–U18 and adult teams: month of notice + the following two months (1+2)
- Notice given in October (all age groups): month of notice + the following month (1+1)
Why? Team activities are planned and costs calculated according to the number of players at the start of the season. The club is responsible for the continuity of its teams' activities and for making sure that players' football is not put at risk when player numbers change. A team's activities and finances are planned for a 12-month season. Costs are not spread evenly: in winter, training venue costs are considerably higher, tournaments and kit purchases are often concentrated in the summer, and the more expensive winter leagues are often paid for as early as August–September. Team activity fees are nevertheless set as equal monthly payments so that costs are spread evenly and predictably among the players.
Exemption: If necessary, you can apply to the club's board for an exemption from the payment for the notice period on serious grounds at hallitus@pakkalanpalloseura.fi. The board considers each case individually at its board meeting.
Break
A break may be needed, for example, because of an injury or another seasonal sport.
- A break must last at least 3 months for it to affect charges, in which case the charges are stopped. The practice is the same as when quitting.
- Give notice of a break in good time. For example, notice of a winter break is given two months in advance.
- A player on a break is still a member of the club and is subject to the club's annual and membership fees.
- Missing training does not automatically exempt a player from the team activity fees. If there is going to be a longer break, for example because of an injury, contact the coach and the team manager as soon as possible to find out what to do. For longer absences, be prepared to show a medical certificate.
Quitting
Sometimes a team member's path leads away from their team, whether because of moving away, changing clubs or giving up football altogether. Being part of a team means taking your teammates into account when you quit, too. This is completely normal, and we hope that people leave our club on good terms and after an open conversation.
Players and their families are expected to commit to the team's activities for at least a full season, as the team's finances and the continuity of its activities depend on season-long commitment.
Termination of club membership is set out in the club rules (articles of association).
Club transfer
A transfer request from another club is approved only once the player has fulfilled all their obligations to the club and the team.
Pakkalan Palloseura's teams and members have committed to following these rules.
